Alt accounts on Rage of Bahamut

Happy Memorial Day to players in the U.S!

I'm a little strapped for time this week for a guide, so I'm going to let you know a few things you can do for an alt account, and what an alt account can do for you.

If you have 2 or more android devices, you probably already know you can have multiple accounts on Rage of Bahamut, and hopefully you chose your accounts to be different realms (ie: Humans, Demons, Gods). Different realm accounts will obtain specific treasures from quests, and with 2 accounts you will be able to collect treasures much easier, and with 3 accounts you won't even have to battle for treasure if you are set up right. But also think of this, you can complete treasure on each account, allowing you to evolve treasure cards, and event cards that you normally wouldn't be able to without trading.

I personally have my Motorola Triumph which has my Akzel5 account, and my Iconia tablet with my primary account, which is where I take screenshots and whatnot for the site from. I have 1 more account, on my computer. No, Windows, Linux, and IOS cannot run Rage of Bahamut natively, but you should check out bluestacks.com for their android emulator. Keep in mind though, you cannot do terminal registration on bluestacks, so you cannot claim verified treasures or friendship points card packs. This account may seem limited, however, I have found myself using it just as much as my other accounts since I can still send and receive gifts, evolve and enhance, and since I "care a little less" about the account, I can build it in a way that I wouldn't make sense for a primary account, and it is now a hardcore defender in Holy Wars, and a pretty safe "bank" for treasures and whatnot.

I am currently playing around with rooting and modifying bluestacks to allow terminal registration, I have to assume there is a way to do it, and I would love to get my hands on the 200+ presents/rewards that require verification on the account.

Another potential benefit of having a bluestacks alt, is if you get a new android device, you don't have to start from scratch.

Have fun alting if you choose to do so!

The Roar of the Dragons

Roar of the Dragons Event is over! This guide is no longer applicable to current gameplay, but will remain on the site if the event happens again next year!

Roar of the Dragons is the current event from 5/17/12 to 5/27/12, and involves 10 full Event Quest chapters, in which Dragons will descend and attack randomly as you participate in quest events. There are multiple loot systems involved, and multiple combat systems including basic questing and Boss encounters, and a 'new' method of combat when attacking the Dragons. First, let's cover some terms for this event.

Progress Reward: These rewards are obtained by defeating a certain number of Dragons during the event. Your first reward is obtained after 3 victories, your second after 7 more, and a reward for every 10 victories until you defeat 60 Dragons.
Order Progress: Your order is also competing as a team and will give rewards to every order member with at least 100,000 damage done to Dragons in the event.
Rank Rewards: These rewards will be distributed depending on your rank at the end of the event. You will compete in rank individually and as a team within your order. Rewards can be viewed within the game.
Party: This is the system which allows you to defeat strong Dragons. After you attack a Dragon for the first time, you may call for help from your order or fellows, and any order member or fellow that is not already attacking another Dragon will have a chance to be added to your party, and will be able to attack the Dragon.

To the right is a picture of the Roar of the Dragons top page with the Rewards Panel and Ranking Panel highlighted and labeled. Located within the Rewards panel, you will be able to see your next progress reward and how many dragons you need to defeat to claim the reward. This panel will not show you the progress of your Order in progression rewards. In the Ranking Panel, you can see your own and your order's current ranking, total damage, done, victories etc. For yourself, Damage done is the only factor for your ranking and the only thing really worth keeping track of. For your order, seeing the number of Dragons defeated will let you track how soon your order will unlock another progress reward.

When you encounter a Dragon, or when you are chosen to participate in a party to defeat a Dragon, there will be a flashing banner with the text "A dragon has appeared!!" and below will be a button labeled "Prepare for Battle".

To the right is what you will see when you click on "Prepare for Battle". The first panel contains the Dragon info. You will have 2 hours after finding the Dragon to defeat it, and Dragons grow more powerful every time you defeat one. This is, I believe, the final Dragon, with 1 million health!
The panel below this contains your Deck info and options. Keep in mind that ATK PWR is used differently in this event than normal, and cards cost lest to use, so you can use more powerful Decks if you have them. Card skills cannot be used on the Dragon with the exception of very few special "Event Skill" abilities. Below this panel is the actual ATK PWR formula, 5+(DeckPWR/2). So, for example, say you have 5 cards that use 10 stamina in your Deck, your formula would like like 5+([10+10+10+10+10]/2), simplified 5+(50/2) or 5+25=30 ATK PWR used.
The last panel is the Party Panel. Here you can see the order/fellow members participating in the battle, and see their progress. Dragons drop a chest of cards when defeated, and the cards are distributed to the Party Members who did the most damage, and in the event of a tie, the person who finished attacking first will be preferred by the loot.

Updates and whatnot

I know updates to the guide have been trickling down the blog a little slow, but rest assured I am still here and still dedicating time to expanding the site. I am running into some problems with features I wish to release on the new site, so the new site is on hold until I can resolve the problem. I will try to release at least 1 comprehensive guide a week still! Keep sending me questions and ideas!

Winning Question 1: When enhancing a card, does it matter what card you use to enhance? I've been sacrificing my low lvl normal cards to enhance my stronger cards, but is it better to use stonger cards to gain more stats?

When enhancing a card, does it matter what card you use to enhance? I've been sacrificing my low lvl normal cards to enhance my stronger cards, but is it better to use stonger cards to gain more stats?

This question really requires a lot of research to completely answer, but I do have enough information to have a pretty good idea on how to best enhance your cards.

First off, let's talk about the archive bonuses. The more cards you discover, the more cards you can carry. This includes the evolved forms of cards, so this makes evolving cards you may not use rewarding to some degree. The other bonus, the more cards you MAX out, the faster your Stamina, ATK, and DEF recovers. This bonus only counts when you MAX a card of a certain name once. an example would be, if you have a Fighter, and you MAX it out, it will count towards the archive bonus whether you have the card, or have used it to enhance, evolve, or even sold/traded/gifted it. If you evolve a Fighter to a Fighter+, MAXing the Fighter+ will count towards the archive bonus as well, and so on and so forth. Keeping track of what cards you have maxed will prove useful down the road, keep that in mind. Improved recovery time can be very useful.

Now, actually enhancing cards, does using rarer cards give better results? Yes and no. Using rarer cards will improve your chances of "Excellent Improvement" and more importantly, "Skill Up". However, using lower rarity cards is far more practical.

Enhancing your primary ATK and DEF cards should follow some general rules to save you time and suffering. Don't waste your Angel Queens on cards that are not Final Form, and never waste Devil/Demon Queens on cards that are not Final Form who do not have Skills. Skills can be leveled up to level 4 (to my knowledge). So stop using Devil/Demon Queens once you reach max skill level, and only use 1 per enhance.

Enhancing lower rarity cards you will reach MAX faster than higher rarity, as they require fewer levels to MAX, this balances out the benefits of leveling out different rarity cards, a higher rarity card will become more powerful but requires far more cards than a lower rarity card. Just because a card is Normal or High Normal does not mean it is not worth using over a Rare and up. It appears that using card skills in combat is limited in some way, so maximizing your Attack and Defense per point of ATK/DEF takes a bit of work.

Personally, I choose the rare cards I wish to enhance based on their skills, ones that grant "Big boost to....". I use 2 or 3 cards with skills like this, MAX them out, and level up high ATK or DEF High Normals or Normals that these skills affect. My main account has 50 ATK, yet can pump out over 35k attack power with 3 normal/high normals and 2 Rare and UP cards by utilizing the types of cards I use in a hand.

So, keep using those low level cards to enhance cards you want to use or to enhance towards the archive bonus.

New site underway and forums are available

I've begun migrating information to a new site format! I have some work to do on banners, backgrounds, and other such aesthetics before it is ready for viewing, but I have opted to open up the forum. Please feel free to join and post, get your name out there!

I will be deciding soon whether or not to do a chat-room. If anyone knows a chat-room host that can be accessed from PC or from android / Iphone devices please let me know!

Q&A

Q.:) When is a good time to focus on leveling certain stats? I focused on Stamina in the beginning, but how much is enough to avoid being too low on Attack and Defense later?
A.:) It is up to your own personal preference how you choose to distribute your stats. However, keep in mind that in order to complete event treasure sets you will need some degree of attack to obtain treasure through battle, and it may be in your best interest to protect the treasure you possess. The DEF PWR stat will scare away most people just by having it, and you don't really need to have a very high number. Just get a hand of defensive cards and raise your DEF so you can use the hand to defend yourself once. ATK PWR can be treated the same way, just get a hand of powerful cards and get enough ATK PWR to let you use it, you may opt for more to help in Holy Wars etc.

Q.:) What cards are worth maxing out? Are Rares worth it, or would you only max something S Rare and above?
A.) I max out every card I use in my ATK deck. I would also recommend maxing out every card you use in your DEF deck. Rares, if you use them, are most definitely worth maxing out, as they have more levels and get more powerful than maxxing high normals, but a maxxed high normal is nothing to sneeze at. The rarer a card is, the more levels it takes to max it out, so don't fret over the rarity of the card to max it out. I max out normals, evolve, and max out each stage just for the archive bonus. Sometimes I have to chill and sell cards to replenish my rupies but I'm pretty sure my archive bonus will pay off in the end.

Q.:) Are friendship points used only to buy a card pack, or can you do more with friendship points?
A.:) Friendship points are only used for purchasing card packs at the moment.

Q.:) Do the chances of getting a better card when buying a card pack increase when you level up? (so, do you get better cards at level 50 then at level 20)
A.:) I don't think so, I just claimed 10 friendship packs over level 60 and only got normals, and have gotten quite a few high normal and rares before. Recently I obtained an Arc Dragon through it, it is really just a lottery, sometimes you win big, sometimes you just have a handful of enhancers.

Q.:) At the moment I completed my "ring" treasure. When are you able to search for the next treasure?
A.:) Orbs will be your next treasure, you will start finding them in Chapter 6. It's possible you're already past chapter 6 and just haven't found your first orb yet, just go to the quest list and repeat the quests that show 4 loot slots.

Q.:) What is the purpoise to join an Order? What can you do instead of just..."being in an order with some people"
A.:) Joining an order can give you ATK and DEF boosts, and provide a framework for assistance. "being in an order with some people"... well, I'm working on that one, I will put a post up when I get the Robguide order going, for testing purposes and to enhance the function of orders; including a forum for posting trade negotiations and strategizing in Holy Wars, and a chat room to shoot the breeze and share information with your fellow order members. You can leave an order-wide message, and can 'support' players by sending a message at the moment, but I think we all know how tedious that can be, and how unrealistic it is to use it for an actual communications channel. Also, you can get some rare cards in Holy Wars with Silver Coin Card Packs, which is always useful ;).

Q.:) Is there a way to find players via their wish-list? So for example; I have an item I want to trade, can I search for players who want that item?
A.:) Not at the moment. I will be releasing a more complete website where users will be able to post their wishlists, and forum posts to negotiate trades, which will offer similar functionality, but as far as in game, unfortunately no.

Q.:) I see lots of players with higher levels, who have form one high normal cards. Are you able to get those via quests in later stages? Because I've only been getting normal cards in quests at this time.
A.:) Indeed, you can obtain (High Normal) cards later in the quest progression, and through friendship and silver coin card packs. Event quests typically drop (High Normal) sooner than regular quests. You will get those rare cards.

Q.:) Where are you going to post the artwork archive?
A.:) By the artwork archive, I'm assuming you're talking about the card archive, and that is an enormous work in progress. I will have to have a new website to really do what I wish to do with it, as I intend to tie the archive into a link system that will be used for wishlists, and trades. There are thousands of cards, and I actually have to collect them in the game before I can gather the data, and that includes evolving them etc. It will probably be a month or 2 unless I get a few helpers.

Q.:) When enhancing a card, does it matter what card you use to enhance? I've been sacrificing my low lvl normal cards to enhance my stronger cards, but is it better to use stonger cards to gain more stats?
A.:) I started writing a response to this one, but with how long the response was going to be, I decided to make this our winner! I will be sending you an email for your player name Kim, so I can get you the winning prize; Man Guinevere (High Rare)! This card is an excellent defensive card, providing a Big Boost to DEF to all of your cards. It's first form, level 1 has 2320 DEF and 2350 ATK with a PWR Requirement of 18. Congratulations! Perhaps you can test enhancing out a little for me on this ;)!

Email me questions, and your question could be the next guide!

I have been using the blanket approach to create this guide, but I want to know what the needs of my readers is. If you have a question about a mechanic in the game, or are curious about how to do something, or even just want clarification or reference, post a comment here or feel free to email me at mcnpandroid@gmail.com. I will put up a Q&A page to answer questions emailed in to me, and I will choose 1 topic a week to dedicate a guide to.

The sender of the winning question will receive an item in game, if your player name is provided in the email. I will upon request keep your player name anonymous.

Don't be shy! The only bad questions are the ones never asked, and odds are if you have a question, someone else has the same question.

A few pointers on Evolving and Enhancing

I'm sure you've all played around with enhancing and evolving, but are you getting the most out of your strongest cards?

Terms-
MAX: Enhancing a card to it's highest level
Catalyst: A card of lesser evolution used in the process of evolving.
Final Form (FF): The 3rd evolution, 4th stage of a card's progression.

When you evolve a normal card, it will level up and retain 5% of the ATK and DEF of the catalyst cards. But, did you know if you MAX a catalyst card, it will contribute 10%? Sure, 5% more doesn't seem like a game-breaker, but after you add all that bonus ATK and DEF from leveling, it turns out to be a significant chunk. After I learned this, I went maybe a little overboard, and started evolving MAX Dark Elflings, and not using 4 catalysts, but using 8 catalysts. The process took quite some time, but I ended up with a FF Dark Elfling with 6597 ATK and 4526 DEF, not insignificant numbers for a 11 PWR card. The process looked like this. My archive shows an un-enhanced FF Dark Elfling having 2232 ATK and 1530 DEF.

[Night Forest] Dark Elfling (High Normal)
/                                         \
lvl 20 Dark Elfling++ (Normal)        lvl 20 Dark Elfling++ (Normal)
/                     \                          /                   \
lvl 20 D E+        lvl 20 D E+       lvl 20 D E+       lvl 20 D E+
/        \               /         \                /         \               /         \
lvl20DE  lvl20DE  lvl20DE  lvl20DE  lvl20DE  lvl20DE  lvl20DE  lvl20DE

I honestly have no idea how many cards exactly it took to enhance all 8 catalyst, all 4 calalyst+, both catalyst++, and the FF to MAX levels, but I do not recomment doing it for a card of this quality, it was my beginners mistake, but a great learning experience, as I am working on a Gold Fox at the moment. I would recomment doing this process for any super rare cards, but the problem with that is getting 8 super rare catalysts instead of 4. Keep in mind, that you cannot evolve a card with any card that is further in the evolution. I had tried doing this with a Dark Elfling + evolved with a Dark Elfling ++, but alas, there is no infinite evolving.

I hope that helped some of you, I would recommend doing this with Lady Gunslinger for a high attack power card early on if you can obtain these cards through an event, or from fellows or order members.

I will be attempting to determine the best methods for enhancing, but it will take time as there are not many resources out there to expand on, I will basically be performing thousands of enhancements and recording results and comparing to determine if there are differences in how much experience and ATK/DEF is gained from enhancing between normal, high normal, rare, and if using more cards at the same time increases stats more than fewer cards at once. If anyone is willing to assist me, please leave a comment, or email me at mcnpandroid@gmail.com. Email me screenshots of your maxxed cards too if you'd like, I'm working on a catalog of Max / Evolved cards and their artwork, an online archive if you will.

Quests

Questing in Rage of Bahamut is the player's primary source of experience, rupies, and cards. As you progress through quests, you will earn stronger cards, and more rupies, though the rupies you earn per stamina spent increases at a very marginal rate, but bosses will drop significantly more rupies. Event quests do not follow all the rules that traditional quests do, and different Event quests may not follow the rules of other Event quests, so before you start into one, you should read the notes on the quest in game, or read up on it once I get a comprehensive post up.

Terms-
Chapter: The 'level' of quest, each chapter has 5 sections.
Quest: A specific objective within a chapter, while these are mostly for the sake of lore, and will not at this time be reflected in actual gameplay at all.
Boss: The final enemy of a chapter, which you may engage with fellows, and their lead card, and can be assisted by up to 2 order members and their lead card. Boss battles are fought differently than traditional battles.
Treasure: Items that can be found in specific missions, that when you collect the 6 parts can be turned in for powerful and rare cards.
Holy Powder: Replenishes your ATK and DEF points, useful when farming treasures in battle, or when being bombarded with attacks.
Cure Water: A very valuable commodity that replenishes your Stamina completely, allowing you to continue questing without waiting to regenerate.
Progression: The latest quest available to you, costs the most stamina, grants the most experience, drops higher level cards, and grants an award point when completed.
Class: Human, God, Demon. The type of card, skills can be limited to certain classes of cards.

There are a few things to keep in mind, depending on the style which you want to play the game.

1.) Maximizing experience gains - (fastest level gains, and most play time)
Quest in Rage of Bahamut is pretty normalized. In standard quests, you will earn experience equal to the stamina you spend questing. Experience will be earned and stamina will be spent for each monster defeated in a quest. When you complete a quest, you will earn 1 stat point. If you are maximizing experience, you will want to focus on Stamina. after the 5th quest of every chapter, you will encounter a boss, which when defeated will award you with a nice sum of rupies, a Holy Powder, and one of the most valued items in the game, Cure Water.
A unique benefit of low level questing and focusing on Stamina as your primary stat is that you can level up in 1 or 2 bars of Stamina, and complete chapters in 2 or 3 bars of stamina. Since your Stamina is refilled when you level, you can effectively complete the first several chapters faster than you will consume Cure Waters if you wish to power-level at the beginning.
Event quests will offer you an increased ratio of experience to the Stamina you spend, but will not award you bonus stat points. This will speed up the leveling process, but you will end up with less stat points per level, but the difference becomes less and less significant the higher level you become.
Quests can only be 'completed' once, but can be farmed after completion for cards, treasures, or to gain that last little bit of experience if you do not have enough to complete a progression quest.

2.) Maximizing your deck - (Archive building, and many reliable cards)
When you obtain a card from a quest, you will be able to see that card below the name of the quest when you are browsing your available quests. This is very useful when evolving cards, or trying to fill your archive (each evolved form of a card counts towards your archive bonus). Quests in chapter 2 only cost 1 stamina, and a chest will drop every 3 enemies (3/4 chance for a card in quests that do not drop treasure), making for very efficient card farming for enhancing.
You should not focus primarily on farming cards at low levels, as this will drain your rupies fairly quickly, and you will be missing out on very valuable stat points from completing progression quests. Archive bonuses will take several hundred quests, or even thousands of quests to complete, but it will become worth your time to complete the archive MAX bonus after you build up a reputable pool of stamina.
Each quest will drop 1 of each class of card, and more than 1 quest can drop the same card. compare and contrast which quests will give you the cards you want, for the least experience. Keep in mind, Event quests cannot be repeated or farmed beyond normal progression.

3.) Treasure hunting - (rare cards, PvP elements)
Treasures can be collected to obtain rare and powerful cards. A few quests a chapter drop treasure, and once you find a treasure in a quest, that is the only treasure you will find in that quest. Treasure has a 1/5 chance to drop, and you can tell right away which quests drop treasure, because it has 4 boxes below the name instead of the normal 3. The different types of treasure are grouped in 5 chapter intervals. Rings are found in chapters 2-5 (1 is unavailable after tutorial), Orbs in 6-10 etc. You may not be able to collect all 6 pieces of treasure through quests, so you will either have to trade for them or target them in battle.
Treasure hunters will benefit from adding enough ATK power to use their 5 strongest cards in a fight. Having any less will not allow you to use all 5 cards. Players that focus on battling should consider investing further into ATK, but preferably in multiples of their ATK power cost of their decks. If your deck costs 72 ATK power to use, and you have 90 ATK power, 18 points are essentially being wasted since you will have to wait 54 minutes (with no archive bonus) to attack again. If you stay with multiples of the ATK cost of your deck, you will be more satisfied with the rate at which you level or defend. Event quests seem to drop 2 treasures per your race. If you are a Human, the first 2 of each treasure will drop, and you will have to battle for the other 4, if you are a God, the second 2 will drop, and the last 2 drop for Demons. Keep this in mind when you are choosing opponents to battle for the treasure.
Event treasure cards are typically not obtainable through any other means in the game, outside of trading or gifts form players who obtained it in the event, so if you see a card you want, you better get working on it! Treasure+ is the second level of treasure and is available after you finish the first level of treasure, and will award you with the same card, but evolved to (name)+. Treasure+ is only applicable to Event Treasure, such as during the Easter Event, after you complete the Flowery Egg series, you would be able to collect Flowery Egg+, and the reward would simply be the evolved form of the original.

Navigating

Navigating Rage of Bahamut can seem daunting at first, personally I didn't even notice the 'menu' button until I was past level 20. There is a shortcut bar at the bottom to access the most used features of the game. The quest shortcut will take you straight to the latest quest available to you. The battle shortcut will take you to the main battle menu. The enhance shortcut will take you to the enhance card feature, and the evolve shortcut takes you to the evolve card feature.

At the top of the screen there are shortcuts to Mobage, a sort of social networking that the game is tied into, if you have a RoB account, you have a Mobage account. Top and center is the navigation bar, which works just like a browser navigation bar, with <<back {(home)} next>> keys. Top right is where you can access the Card Shop. This is where you can use your legend card pack claim tickets, and your friendship points to obtain friendship packs. There is also High Rare&UP card packs, that cost MobaCoins. More purchase options will probably be available in the future.

This is the Full Menu screen, where you can access pretty much anything in the game. The shop in this menu is where you purchase Cure water, Holy powder and magic circles with Mobacoins. SNS is where you can find special promotions. Guidance offers minimal assistance with game features. User search is where you should search for Akzel5 and fellow request to support this online guide. History gives you a brief synopsis of your activity, including attacks made against you, and what items and how much gold you've lost to other players. The wishlist is a useful feature that allows other players to see what items or cards you are interested in receiving. Trade allows you to trade items and cards (not including event treasure) with other players.

More details on navigating in certain windows will be presented when discussing those features.

Understanding your stats

Where are my stats and how do they work?

Here is a screenshot of the "My Page". Labeled in green and red are the STATS and inventory/fellows windows.

In the  STATS  window you can monitor your LVL BAR,,  STAMINA ,  ATK PWR , and  DEF PWR .

The LVL BAR shows how close you are to leveling, though it does not display the exact numbers, you can see the exact numbers in the Quest page.

The STAMINA bar shows how much stamina you have. Stamina is the crucial stat for completing missions and farming cards for evolution. Keep in mind that stamina regenerates at a rate of 1 per minute, and can have increased recovery speed with archive bonuses.

ATK PWR shows how much power you have to attack other players. Treat this like the PvP equivalent of  STAMINA .  ATK PWR  also regenerates at a rate of 1 per minute, and can be accelerated through archive bonuses.

DEF PWR shows how much power you have to defend yourself against other attackers.  DEF PWR  also regenerates at a rate of 1 per minute, and can be accelerated through archive bonuses.

The  inventory/fellows window shows you how much money you have, how many friendship points you have, your current number and max number of fellows, and how many cards you can and do have at this time.

Friendship Points are used to obtain Friendship card packs. Friendship Card Packs cost 200 friendship points. Friendship points can be claimed once a day at login, and can also be earned by supporting other players (sending them a friendly message), through special events, and as compensation from the administrators if something happened that may have inhibited your natural progression.

The currency in Rage of Bahamut is RupiesRupies  are obtained once a day at login, by defeating monsters in missions, by defeating other players, selling cards, defeating bosses, as well as trades and other sources.  Rupies  are spent on evolution and enhancement.

Fellows are like group members, they can assist you in progressing and defeating bosses. As you level up, the maximum amount of  Fellows you can have increases, and every fellow you join with you receive 5 stat points. Make sure to vary the type of fellows you have, you do not want to have all Demon, God, or Human, but a healthy mixture is the best solution.

The last bit of information displayed on the  inventory/fellows window is your Card Count. Keep track of this, as you will likely want to enhance your strong cards when you have enough cards to do so. Your maximum limit of cards is expanded through archive bonuses.
